How do I choose a florist?

A good place to start is to talk to friends and family members who were married recently and find out which florist they chose and why. If you already know where the ceremony will take place, ask a representative for a list of their preferred florists. You might also visit bridal shows in your area or near the ceremony location. When you meet with a florist, ask a lot of questions, and don't book until you get the answers you want. If more than one florist provides the right answers, then ask yourself "Who am I most comfortable with?" That one question can often make the difference between just liking your flowers and loving them.

When do I book my florist?

Different planning guides offer different recommendations on when to book with a florist, or any other wedding vendor. While we have done weddings with as little as 30 days notice, we recommend booking as soon as you find the right florist for you. The earlier you book, the greater chance you have that your favorite florist will be available on your wedding date, particularly during peak wedding months.

How much should I put in my budget for flowers?

Most wedding planning guides recommend you allow 8% of your budget for flowers. While that could be a realistic number, there are several factors which affect the cost of your wedding flowers; types of flowers, number of arrangements, seasonal availability, etc., and affixing a set percentage doesn't necessarily allow for those variables. The most important variable in determining the budget for your flowers is you. How important are the flowers to you? If you've always wanted a wedding teeming with flowers, 8% may not do your dream justice.

I've heard that the groom should pay for the bride's flowers. Is that true?

There are two schools of thought here. Tradition dictates a certain breakdown of expenses between the bride's family and the groom's. For instance, traditionally, as mentioned, the groom pays for the bride's flowers. If you choose to follow the traditional method, Always provides the full traditional breakdown of expenses with every wedding proposal. In today's society however, it has become more and more common for the families of the bride and groom, or the bride and groom themselves, to share expenses equally, or to trade off expenses in a manner that they feel is equitable.

Does Always Floral Designs offer wedding packages?

We get this question a lot. We could simply answer "No", but the reason we don't goes right to the heart of what we do. Most floral packages include a set number of bouquets, boutonnieres, and other arrangements, in a set design with a set number of a set flower. They don't allow for the brides own ideas, opinions, and desires. We've never met a bride who wanted the exact same flowers as a previous bride. We believe in customizing your wedding order to match exactly what you want, and, in most cases, a package simply cannot accomplish that goal.
